Welcome to the Kosciusko County Community. Kosciusko County is far more than meets the eye! Ideally located in north-central Indiana, this beautiful county is home to more than 100 lakes covering over 10,000 acres, featuring countless wetlands, beaches and resort areas.

Lifestyle:

Located in north-central Indiana's lake region, Kosciusko offers a strong industrial and agricultural base and unlimited recreational activities. More than 70 civic and service organizations serve the needs of the area, with members giving many hours of volunteer, committee and fund-raising time.

There are also more than 70 churches covering most major denominations. Winona Lake, a noted religious sanctuary, is the world headquarters for the Grace Brethren Church and the Free Methodist Church, Grace College and Seminary, several other denominations, and a number of religious publishing concerns are also based there.

Warsaw is Kosciusko's largest city and county seat; Syracuse is the second largest. Other Kosciusko communities include Atwood, Beaver Dam, Burket, Claypool, Clunette, Etna Green, Gravelton, Kinsey, Leesburg, Mentone, Milford, Milford Junction, Monoquet, North Webster, Oswego, Packerton, Palestine, Pierceton, Sevastopol, Sidney, Silver Lake, Winona Lake and Wooster

Agriculture:

In income, Kosciusko ranks as the top agricultural county in Indiana and within the top three in the nation. It is a top producer of cattle, horses and colts, sheep and wool, hogs, poultry and eggs, as well as rye and onions.

In Mentone, more than 40 million eggs are produced annually. Atwood produces more than 36 million dozen eggs annually, and Milford holds the world's record for ducks produced and processed. Other county products include corn, wheat, oats and soybeans.

Industry:

Among its many notable assets, Kosciusko County is home to the world's largest manufacturer of movie screen projectors, the largest spoked wheel producer and the largest rotogravure printing plant. More than 160 area businesses represent industries ranging from the traditional steel-based manufacturing, furniture making, printing, publishing, food processing and advertising to orthopedics, pharmaceuticals, packaging, high-tech electronics and telecommunications.

Warsaw is known as the "Orthopedic Capital of the World" because of its position as international headquarters for several major manufacturers of orthopedic implants. It is also home to a wide variety of other industries, including machine and polishing shops, metal fabricating plants, a seat cushion company and an ink manufacturer.

Retail:

Retail trade is a vital part of the Kosciusko economy. Warsaw serves as the shopping hub of the county, with a delightful downtown shopping area and many retail plazas throughout the city. Pierceton and Silver Lake are havens for antique collectors, with more than 35 shops, most of which are open year-round.

Warsaw and Kosciusko County are ideally situated at the heart of the Golden Triangle delineated by Chicago, Detroit and Louisville.

  • 42 miles from Fort Wayne,
  • 120 miles from Indianapolis,
  • and 46 miles from South Bend.

U.S. 30 is a four lane east-west route that bisects Kosciusko County and intersects Warsaw. The town is within 35 miles of I-80/I-90 and I-69. I-65 is 80 miles away, and numerous northern Indiana state and federal highways run close to Warsaw.
